Food Energetics: Make This Nourish Bowl For Your Soul

Vermicelli-Nourish-Bowl-Easy-Healthy-Food-EnergeticsAs we learned last week, "With food, as with life, the goal is harmony. Just as we can satisfy our hunger for life from healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, physical activity, emotional well-being, and a spiritual practice, we need to seek the same nourishment and balance from food. So, along with all of the aspects of your life that fill your soul, most of us actually need to eat both yin and yang foods in order to achieve optimal health." Find said balance with this nourish bowl.

Vermicelli noodles, made from whole grain brown rice, are moderately yin, as are raw cucumber, lime, and vinegar. So, when combined with slightly yang foods like carrots, nuts, garlic, and salt, this meal has a balanced amount of warming yang foods and cooling yin. But if you are feeling particularly yang – perhaps you’re stressed, irritable, angry, or feeling hot – add some sprouts, tofu or tempeh, to lighten its energy. And if you are feeling more yin – maybe you’re lethargic, feeling down in the dumps, or physically chilly, add your favorite wild-caught fish, grass-fed red meat, or some wakame seaweed to this meal to resolve your energetic imbalance.
